« Choices of the past do not dictate the future »
If you remember Patrick's testimony well, you remember that our friend Antonino usually met him in "Crack Houses" but today, it is in churches that they meet each other!
God alone knows your future!
Haggai 1; 2-4: "This is what the Lord Almighty says: These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the Lord’s house. Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?".
In the book of Haggai the people were saying to God that it was not the time yet for them to start building a temple because everything was going badly in their lives but what God told them was that everything was going badly in their lives because they were not building any temple for Him ...
Your life is a set of choices you make. Everything in your life is in the state where things are because of the choices you made:
- Relationship with God
Then in the verses that follow you can read:
Haggai 1: 8: "Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the Lord "
What God said to the people in this verse is that He reminds you to work on His temple and that at this time God will rejoice. It is a promise that if you make your body a temple for God, you will see His blessings come true! The Bible states that you are the temple of the Holy Spirit. God told his people that He would bless Him but He can not because He has no place to stay because the people are not building a temple for Him.
The day the people began to recognize God in their lives and build a temple for them, they began to inherit their future.
In addition, God does not tell you: "When your temple will be finished building I will rejoice" but He only says to start working on it and that at that moment you will see the glory of God in your life!
The history of the people in Haggai is an excellent example of a people whose past was destroyed but who seized the present to change their future!
Today is definitely too late to impact yesterday but it's the perfect time to impact tomorrow!
What we have done in the past will dictate the present but the choices we make in the present will dictate the future!
Isaiah 61; 3: "To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified"
